RAMONA PORTELLI from okmalta.com interviewed Maltese singer, songwriter, and performer KRISTINA CASOLANI.  28 years old, Kristina has been in a relationship with her boyfriend for the past two and a half years.

She also owns a business venture called JinglesMalta.  Kristina describes herself as out going, feisty, creative, emotional, a performer and many more.

Besides singing, you’re also into a business venture related to music? How did you get into it?

I've set up a busniess called JinglesMalta and I work in collaboration with Doyaya Studios on writing corporate jingles.

The process begins with meeting clients, brainstorming and coming up with a concept to brand a company or product or a new concept to rebrand an existing company, product or service.
For example if I'm working on a furniture corporate jingle I make sure to get personally involved in the particular trade, get to know the place inside out, get familiar with the products the company sells then I try to think out of the box as I need to try and reach out to the listening audience and identify the best way to capture its attention with catchy melodies, lyrics and obviously music. It's actually a very difficult task to make them both catchy and memorable because each client has the same specifications - they need the Corporate Jingles to be 'Catchy and memorable'!

One of the hardest things is also sticking to the time constraints because when you're creating something it's nice to have no limitations especially when writing a jingle (which is like a mini song). Apart from the time constraints it is also quite hard to sum up everything that is important to a client in 15 or 20 seconds. However we love a challenge and will continue to write many more jingles God willing.

Overall, are you happy with your lifestyle?
I'm very happy with my lifestyle but obviously keep trying my best and hope to tap into the foreign market with my music and jingles company.

Mention some of your latest work
Songs  - My latest release here in Malta is the DJ Ruby and Mark from U-Bahn Remix of 'I Need You', whereas overseas I've recently signed a record deal with an Italian Label and they've just released a record with a number of remixes of 'Get Out' - Kristina Casolani & Pizza Brothers on all the Italian Radio stations. The song is doing extremely well in the charts and we should have the release of the song worldwide very soon. That's the label's plan anyway.

As regards to Jingles I've recently worked for this website Okmalta.com and many other local companies.

Do you worry about getting older?
I don't think anyone likes to get older! Well I certainly don't. I would love to join Peter Pan and Tinkerbell in Neverland and never grow older than 28! :) Wishful Thinking!!!!

What is your beauty routine?
My latest routine is face wipes to get all the make up off especially after stage make up, then face wash, toner, a nice moisturizer and Voila'.

What are the qualities you most admire in a man?
Courage, Strength, Positivity, Intelligence, Funny, witty and especially a man who respects his wife/partner.

What are your weaknesses?
Seeing people or animals suffer and my tardiness! New Year's resolution for the millionth time! Lol

Have you ever kissed someone of your same sex?
No comment lol

What is your opinion about same-sex marriages?
I'm a strong believer in human rights and I feel that people who are gay should be allowed to get married at least legally if not allowed by the Catholic Church however this is a hot topic altogether which I'd rather stay out of!

What are your views on plastic surgery?
If it makes you feel happier then go for it!

Are you planning any gigs or new releases at the moment?
Lots and lots of both! My advice is to join my facebook page and 'like it' to keep in touch with all my madness. https://www.facebook.com/KristinaCasolaniMusic

What are your comments about okmalta.com, and let us know about your experience when you were writing the okmalta.com jingle.
Okmalta.com is a great site. What I like about it is that it is very informative plus I like the fact that you can find all the links to the sites that any local person would need. Very good concept !
When writing the jingle as usual it was a challenge to make sure that the client is very happy with the final result, as I mentioned earlier the client's main requirement is always 'It needs to be catchy' so when I met up with the the Director of Okmalta - Mr. Mark Bugeja for our brainstorming session I had already studied the site so I had a very good idea for the jingle in mind!

I remember I had come up with a vocal melody there and then in front of him - lyrics came soon after "For all your online needs, This is a site to see, Ok Malta, Okmalta.com", then straight to the studio to work on the music and I had also asked Mark to send me the male voice saying 'All day, Every day, Try it, Love it' because I felt that after a whole year of hearing that male voice the listeners would have become very familiar with it and associated the voice to Okmalta, so I decided that I wanted to have the voice in the new jingle and I feel it worked out well that way!

How do you describe your relationship with money?
Hmmm it doesn't stay in my purse or bank account very long! I must confess that I'm a spendthrift! However I've recently started to save and it's looking good! :)

What are your plans for the rest of 2012?
Obviously lots of performing at events. At the moment I'm finishing off some jingles and enjoying my boyfriend, family and friends! Might jump onto a plane soon and go for a few days holiday - Rome or Paris.

What’s your sense of style and what do you wear on a daily basis?
Hmmm I wear whatever I'm in the mood for I guess! At the moment its warm clothes (I'm freezing) but still pretty stylish outfits! I love my blacks and also some reds at this time of the year! Boots especially with fur (synthetic of course - no cruelty to animals) are a must! Long coats are my No. 1 items in my wardrobe! I just love clothes, shoes, jewellery and bags! Typical female!

What are your hopes, dreams and fears for the future?
My dreams are to achieve the most I can in my music, for JinglesMalta to keep doing as well as it is at the moment, to live a healthy and happy life while having my boyfriend around to keep a smile on my face like he does especially because of the respect he has for me. This means the world to me!
Future - Hopefully on a stage in front of thousands of people performing my heart out and one day possibly a family and kids however this sounds too grown up for now!

My biggest fear is death - losing the people closest to me and also losing my cat Stu… but I guess this is life!
