RAMONA PORTELLI from okmalta.com interviewed Sexpert – Emma Ziff.  She was brought up around the world, currently living in London.  She works globally as a Sexpert with clients, publications, radio, television and speaking events.

“You would definitely say I have the knowledge of Dr Ruth and the humour of Joan Rivers with my own down to earth experience and non-judgmental approach to sexual intimacy”, stated Emma in her introduction to this interview.

You are a Sexpert and a radio presenter.  How did you get into it?
All my life people opened up to me about their relationship issues especially sexual concerns.  Women chat quite openly with friends about sex, but men often don’t, and so they come to me to look at the physical and psychological reasons for their actions.  For years I have been interviewed on radio shows, and had my own late night chat show.  Listeners call in as they are more relaxed knowing they are anonymous and the guests on the show are all fascinating to interview with their expertise and personal stories.  Radio allows me to get to a wider audience, as many people have the same concerns.  From discussions about couples with children keeping that spark alive, to swinging: should couples try it out.

Your job mainly consists bringing sexual concerns out into the open for everyone. In general, can you describe your work role between couples or single persons?
I work with clients of any sexual preference, both singles and couples.  Some of the issues could be couples not freely expressing themselves, or physical problems which are stopping them from enjoying sexual activities, or even ideas to bring that fun back in to a stale relationship.

I know you’ve worked with celebrity clients, can you name any?
No, I would never divulge.  I am very respectful of all my clients, celeb or not, and have a strict confidentiality agreement with everyone.

Currently you are writing a book concentrating on men’s sexual issues. Tell me more about it and when will it be released?
I actually have a few books I am writing.  The book on men’s sexual issues is for them to realize that they’re not the only ones with erectile dysfunction and that there are many ways to deal with it.  I also have some books coming out on the secrets that men won’t tell women and what women won’t tell men.  But I can’t tell you much more right now ….. it’s a secret!

You are also collaborating on a sitcom about sex and dating.  What’s this all about?
Yes, there are several TV projects on which I am working.  Some are human interest documentaries about sex and intimacy, as well as some collaborations with comedians on some fun TV shows.  I have many projects on the go, which I discuss regularly on my Twitter page.

Do you think swinging can be healthy in a relationship?
I would never recommend swinging to bring sexual excitement to a relationship, especially one which is struggling.  Once you do it, you can’t take it back, and if it all goes horribly wrong, it can be destructive with one or both partners getting jealous.  There are many other ways to inject some fun and fantasy to a true loving relationship.

Have you ever kissed someone of your same sex?
All I will say is …… I am not the type of person who you will find photos of kissing Madonna or Brittany Spears.

Have you ever lied to your partner or your ex?
I’ve lied about the price of a pair of shoes, but never about sex.  One of my campaigns is ‘Make It Not Fake It’.  Open communication between partners is essential.  When someone fakes an orgasm, that partner stores that memory of what they think you like and will never be able to satisfy you completely.

What is your opinion about same-sex marriages?
A marriage between two people is sacred whatever the sex.  I think it’s fabulous that laws are changing and would love to see there being the same rights for gay relationships as those which are heterosexual.

What is your opinion about same-sex affairs?
An affair is an affair, no matter with the same or opposite sex.  Many couples do come to an agreement to bring someone else in to a relationship to satisfy a same sex urge, which can cause problems, but each relationship is different.

What is your greatest dream?
To interview Hugh Heffner and what he believes is important in a sexual and intimate relationship; Joan Rivers with her comedic views on sex; and a group sex therapy session with Charlie Sheen, Russell Brand, Michael Douglas and Jack Nicholson (mmm sounds like a sitcom.)

How do you relax and get away from it all?
I love to watch comedies whilst soaking in a bubble bath, and chatting to friends, putting the world to rights.

What is your beauty routine?
I’m lucky that I have my Mum’s Swedish genes.  When I feel and look sexy and confident, others will sense that.  I think women who get out of bed half an hour before their partner and put on make-up are ridiculous.  As I have a business with an organic skin care range and natural health products, I am working on my own line of sexual products for couples to enjoy using with each other.

Have you ever heard something about my country island – Malta?
I was in Malta 10 years ago, diving in Gozo, with its underwater caverns.   And I loved the island, very pretty and the Maltese so friendly.

In Malta, smoking has just been banned in open-air playgrounds. What are your comments and views regards this law?
Your children’s health comes first, smoking near them is irresponsible.  They can easily pick up the cigarette butts, so yes it is a good idea.

What’s your sense of style and what do you wear on a daily basis?
It very much depends what I’m doing and who’s company I am in.  It’s varied, comfortable casual at home, sexy and fun out.

What does your most ideal day consist of?
Each day I wake up and am grateful that I can make a difference through sessions with clients, catching up with people on social media, appearing on a panel TV show and an interview on a late night radio show giving advice and fun tips.

What are your hopes, dreams and fears for the future?
Hopes - Being sexually active in my 90’s.
Dreams - Being sexually active in my 90’s.
Fears - Losing sex drive in my 90’s.
And enjoying loving healthy fun relationships, whilst traveling around the world….in my 90’s!
