Dog Training - PET Education Transcript

Robert Spiteri has been employed as a teacher for the past 13 years or so.  However since he was a kid his love for dogs, their training and trying to understand their world, “language” and nature has always fascinated him and dictated most of the decisions he took in the past 35years.

Since he was a baby his parents told him that he had a dog guarding him under the pram.  Since then, he always had a dog to share his days with.  He considers dogs to be me more than just pets, but actual members of the family with whom its important to solid bond based on respect and rules.  He went beyond than just the average owner as he focused his studies, time, energy and money in understanding the psychology, language of the dog, rehabilitation methods and different training techniques.

Robert qualified as Dog Behaviour Consultant with a Scottish institution and was approved to practice this profession by LANTRA.  He is now approved by the IACP (International Academy of Canine Professionals  - USA) and ISAP (International Society of Animal Professionals - UK).  This qualification together with years and years of practice and experience has helped him to help people understand their dogs and rehabilitate any issue they might be experiencing.

Lately he is also specialising and further enriching his studies in the Aggressive dog scenario and is also reading for a qualification as Canine nutrition advisor.  Apart from dealing with canine behaviours he also helps people to train dogs for various activities including, obedience, and IPO sport (including  protection, tracking and advanced commands), for which he has trained with British and Belgian trainers in order to adapt my own techniques which are quite new to Malta and differentiate himself from most traditional (negative) trainers as he only promotes positive methods with which he has had seen great success.

For the past six years he has also been involved in the puppy guide dog training for the blind and is constantly practicing and trying to improve in this scenario.

Robert Spiteri will be blogging frequently on okmalta.com BLOGTOWN.
